Named The Official Orthopedic Medicine Provider to the
Colorado Springs U.S. Olympic Training Center

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Center of Orthopaedic Excellence has been honored with the designation of The Official Orthopedic Medicine Provider to the Colorado Springs U.S. Olympic Training Center.

Colorado Center of Orthopaedic Excellence is comprised of four fellowshipped trained orthopaedic surgeons: Dave Weinstein, M.D., John Shank, M.D., Derek Purcell, M.D. and Karl Larsen, M.D. Each physician has their own specialty and training in sports medicine injuries including shoulder, elbow, hand, knee, foot and ankle. CCOE treats conditions and injuries affecting bones, joints, muscles, connective tissues and supportive structures such as ligament and cartilage.

“We are excited about our new endeavor with the U.S. Olympic Training Center” said Dr. David Weinstein. Dr. Weinstein has been a Sports Medicine consultant at the OTC since 1997 and has been on the U.S. medical staff for three Olympic Games. He was appointed as the U.S. Olympic Team Chief Medical Officer for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. “We support the Olympic and Paralympic athletes that represent the United States and we are committed to provide medical services in order to help the athletes compete at their best.”

Under the agreement, Colorado Center of Orthopaedic Excellence will provide orthopedic medical support for elite athletes training at the OTC.

“This agreement between USOC Sports Medicine and CCOE will help Team USA's Olympic and Paralympic athletes receive the orthopaedic care they need to make their dreams come true,” said Dr. Bill Moreau, USOC Managing Director of Sports Medicine. “Dr. Weinstein and the Doctors at CCOE have a history of many years of valuable service. We are grateful that they have decided to formalize their medical service support. This agreement will further support the talented athletes that train, recover, and rehab at our Olympic Training Center here in Colorado Springs.”
